First Reading:  Jer 23:5-8

读经一（我必为达味兴起一支正义的苗芽。）

恭读耶肋米亚先知书 23:5-8

 

Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will raise up a righteous shoot to David; As king he shall reign and govern wisely, he shall do what is just and right in the land.

上主说：看，时日将到，我必给达味兴起一支正义的苗芽，叫他执政为王，断事明智，在地上执行公道正义。

 

In his days Judah shall be saved, Israel shall dwell in security. This is the name they give him: “The LORD our justice.”

在他的日子里，犹大必获救，以色列必居享安宁；人将称他为：“上主是我们的正义。”

 

Therefore, the days will come, says the LORD, when they shall no longer say, “As the LORD lives, who brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt”;

为此，看，时日将到，人不再以“那领以色列子民由埃及地上来的上主，永在”的话起誓，

 

but rather, "As the LORD lives, who brought the descendants of the house of Israel up from the land of the north”– and from all the lands to which I banished them; they shall again live on their own land.

却要以“那领以色列家的后裔，由北方，由他驱逐他们所到的各地回来，使他们再住在自己故乡的上主，永在”的话起誓。

R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

【答】：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安。

 

O God, with your judgment endow the king, and with your justice, the king’s son; He shall govern your people with justice and your afflicted ones with judgment.

领：天主，求你给君王传授你的权柄，求你给太子传授你的公正。使他照正义统治你的百姓，使他按公道管理你的平民。

 

R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

【答】：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安。

For he shall rescue the poor when he cries out, and the afflicted when he has no one to help him. He shall have pity for the lowly and the poor; the lives of the poor he shall save.

领：他必拯救哀号的贫民，他必扶持无援的穷人。他将怜恤不幸和贫乏的群众，并要救护穷苦贫病者的生命。

 

R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

【答】：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安。

 

Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous deeds. And blessed forever be his glorious name; may the whole earth be filled with his glory.

领：愿上主天主，以色列的天主享受赞颂，因为只有他独自作出了奇妙的化工。愿他光荣的名号永受赞美，愿他的荣耀充满整个大地！

Gospel  Mt 1:18-25

福音（耶稣生于玛利亚，玛利亚许配给达味之子若瑟。）

恭读圣玛窦福音 1:18-24

 

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.

耶稣基督的诞生是这样的：他的母亲玛利亚许配于若瑟后，在同居前，她因圣神有孕的事已显示出来。

 

Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly.

她的丈夫若瑟，因是义人，不愿公开羞辱她，有意暗暗地休退她。

 

Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.

当他在思量这事时，看，在梦中上主的天使显现给他说：“达味之子若瑟，不要怕娶你的妻子玛利亚，

 

For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

因为那在她内受生的，是出于圣神。她要生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫耶稣：因为他要把自己的民族，由他们的罪恶中拯救出来。”

 

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.”

这一切事的发生，是为应验上主藉先知所说的话：“看，一位贞女，将怀孕生子，人将称他的名字为厄玛奴耳，意思是：天主与我们同在。”

 

When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus.

若瑟从睡梦中醒来，就照上主的天使所嘱咐的办了，娶了他的妻子。（若瑟虽然没有认识她，她就生了一个儿子，给他起名叫耶稣。）
