First Reading:  NM 24:2-7, 15-17A

When Balaam raised his eyes and saw Israel encamped, tribe by tribe, the spirit of God came upon him, and he gave voice to his oracle:

巴郎一举目，看见了按支派扎营的以色列人；那时天主的神降在他身上，他遂吟诗说：

 

The utterance of Balaam, son of Beor, the utterance of a man whose eye is true, The utterance of one who hears what God says, and knows what the Most High knows,

“贝敖尔的儿子巴郎的神谕，明眼男子的神谕，那听到天主的话，得见全能者的神视，

 

Of one who sees what the Almighty sees, enraptured, and with eyes unveiled: How goodly are your tents, O Jacob; your encampments, O Israel!

在沈睡中开了神眼的神谕：雅各伯，你的帐幕，何其壮观！以色列，你的居所，何其美好！

 

They are like gardens beside a stream, like the cedars planted by the LORD. His wells shall yield free-flowing waters, he shall have the sea within reach; His king shall rise higher, and his royalty shall be exalted.

如扩展的棕林，似河畔的花园，像上主栽种的沈香，似临水的香柏。英雄由他的后裔而出，他将治理许多民族；他的君王超越阿加格，他的王国必受举扬。”

 

Then Balaam gave voice to his oracle: The utterance of Balaam, son of Beor, the utterance of the man whose eye is true, The utterance of one who hears what God says, and knows what the Most High knows,

巴郎继续吟咏说：“贝敖尔的儿子巴郎的神谕，明眼男子的神谕，那听到天主的话，深知至高者的思虑，得见全能者的神视，

 

Of one who sees what the Almighty sees, enraptured, and with eyes unveiled. I see him, though not now;

在沈睡中开了神眼的神谕：我看见他，却不是在现在；

 

I behold him, though not near: A star shall advance from Jacob, and a staff shall rise from Israel.

我望见他，却不是在近处：由雅各伯将出现一颗星，由以色列将兴起一权杖。”

【答】：上主，求你教训我履行你的道路。

 

Your ways, O LORD, make known to me; teach me your paths, Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior.

领：上主，求你使我认识你的法度，并求你教训我履行你的道路。还求你教训我；引我进入真理之路。因你是救我的天主。

 

R.  Teach me your ways, O Lord.

【答】：上主，求你教训我履行你的道路。

 

Remember that your compassion, O LORD, and your kindness are from of old. In your kindness remember me, because of your goodness, O LORD.

领： 上主，求你忆及你的仁慈和恩爱，因为它们由亘古以来就常存在。上主，求你纪念我，照你的仁慈和良善。

 

R.  Teach me your ways, O Lord.

【答】：上主，求你教训我履行你的道路。

 

Good and upright is the LORD; thus he shows sinners the way. He guides the humble to justice, he teaches the humble his way.

领：因为上主仁慈又正直，常领迷途者归回正路，引导谦卑者遵守正义，教导善良者走入正途。

 

R.  Teach me your ways, O Lord.

【答】：上主，求你教训我履行你的道路。

 

Gospel  MT 21:23-27

福音（若翰的洗礼是从那里来的？）

恭读圣玛窦福音  21:23-27

 

When Jesus had come into the temple area, the chief priests and the elders of the people approached him as he was teaching and said, "By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority?"

那时候，耶稣进入圣殿，正教训人时，司祭长和民间的长老来到他跟前说：“你凭什么权柄作这些事？谁给了你这种权柄？”

 

Jesus said to them in reply, "I shall ask you one question, and if you answer it for me, then I shall tell you by what authority I do these things.

耶稣回答说：“我也问你们一句话，你们若答覆我，我就告诉你们：我凭什么权柄作这些事。

 

Where was John's baptism from? Was it of heavenly or of human origin?"

若翰的洗礼，是从那里来的？是从天上来的？还是从人来的？”

 

They discussed this among themselves and said, "If we say 'Of heavenly origin,' he will say to us, 'Then why did you not believe him?'

他们心中思量说：如果我们说：是从天上来的，他必对我们说：你们为什么不信他？

 

But if we say, 'Of human origin,' we fear the crowd, for they all regard John as a prophet." So they said to Jesus in reply, "We do not know."

如果我们说：是从人来的，我们害怕民众，因为众人都以若翰为一位先知。他们便回答耶稣说：“我们不知道。”

 

He himself said to them, "Neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things."

耶稣也对他们说：“我也不告诉你们：我凭什么权柄作这些事。”
