First Reading: WIS 13:1-9

读经一（人既然能够探究宇宙，为什么不能及早发现这些东西的主宰呢？）

恭读智慧篇 13:1-9

 

All men were by nature foolish who were in ignorance of God, and who from the good things seen did not succeed in knowing him who is, and from studying the works did not discern the artisan;

凡不认识天主的人，都是真正的愚人，因为他们未能从看得见的美物，去发现那自有者；注意了工程，却不认识工程师；

 

But either fire, or wind, or the swift air, or the circuit of the stars, or the mighty water, or the luminaries of heaven, the governors of the world, they considered gods.

反而认火、风、流动的空气、运转的星辰、洪流的巨涛、天上的光体，为统治世界的神。

 

Now if out of joy in their beauty they thought them gods, let them know how far more excellent is the Lord than these; for the original source of beauty fashioned them.

如果有人因这些东西的美丽而着迷，奉之为神；那么，他们就应知道：这些美物的主宰更是美丽，因为都是美丽的唯一根源所创造的。

 

Or if they were struck by their might and energy, let them from these things realize how much more powerful is he who made them.

如果有人惊奇这些东西的力量和效能，就应明白：创造这些东西的更有能力；

 

For from the greatness and the beauty of created things their original author, by analogy, is seen.

因为从受造物的伟大和美丽，人可以推想到这些东西的创造者。

 

But yet, for these the blame is less; For they indeed have gone astray perhaps, though they seek God and wish to find him.

不过，这种人的罪尚较轻微，因为他们寻找天主，也有意找到，却一时误入迷途：

 

For they search busily among his works, but are distracted by what they see, because the things seen are fair. But again, not even these are pardonable.

这或许是由于他们所见的世物实在美丽，因此在专心研究时只追求外表；但他们仍然不能推辞无过：

 

For if they so far succeeded in knowledge that they could speculate about the world, how did they not more quickly find its Lord?

因为他们既然能知道得如此渊博，甚至能探究宇宙，为何不能及早发现这些东西的主宰呢？

【答】：高天陈述天主的光荣。

 

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Day pours out the word to day, and night to night imparts knowledge.

领：高天陈述天主的光荣，穹苍宣扬他的奇工妙化；日与日侃侃而谈，夜与夜知识相传。

 

R. The heavens proclaim the glory of God.

【答】：高天陈述天主的光荣。

 

Not a word nor a discourse whose voice is not heard; Through all the earth their voice resounds, and to the ends of the world, their message.

领：不是语，也不是言，是听不到的语言；它们的声音传遍普世，它们的言语达于地极。

 

R. The heavens proclaim the glory of God.

【答】：高天陈述天主的光荣。

 

Gospel Lk 17:26-37

福音（在人子显现的日子里，也将是这样。）

恭读圣路加福音 17:26-37

 

Jesus said to his disciples: "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man;

那时候，耶稣向门徒说：“在诺厄的日子里怎样，在人子的日子里也要怎样：

 

they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

那时，人们吃喝婚嫁，直到诺厄进入方舟的那天，洪水来了，消灭了所有的人。

 

Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building; on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all. So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

又如在罗特的日子里，人们吃喝买卖，耕种建造，但在罗特离开索多玛的那一天，火及硫磺自天降下，消灭了所有的人：在人子显现的日子里，也要这样。

 

On that day, someone who is on the housetop and whose belongings are in the house must not go down to get them, and likewise one in the field must not return to what was left behind.

在那一日，那在屋顶上的，不要下来拿取在屋里的器具；那在田里的，也同样不要回家。

 

Remember the wife of Lot. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it.

你们要记得罗特的妻子！不论谁，若想保全自己的性命，必要丧失性命；凡丧失性命的，必要保存性命。

 

I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, the other left.

我告诉你们：在这一夜，两个人同在一张床上，一个被接去，而一个被遗弃；

 

And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left."

两个女人一起推磨，一个被接去，而一个被遗弃。”

 

They said to him in reply, "Where, Lord?" He said to them, "Where the body is, there also the vultures will gather."

门徒问耶稣说：“主，在那里发生呢？”耶稣回答说：“那里有尸体，老鹰就聚集在那里。”
