First Reading: JON 4:1-11

读经一（你对这株篦麻也有怜悯的心，难道我对尼尼微这座大城就不该怜惜吗？）

恭读约纳先知书 4:1-11

 

Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry that God did not carry out the evil he threatened against Nineveh. He prayed, “I beseech you, LORD, is not this what I said while I was still in my own country?

那时候，约纳很不高兴，遂发起怒来。他恳求天主说：“上主，当我还在故乡时，我岂不是已想到尼尼微的事？

 

This is why I fled at first to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger, rich in clemency, loath to punish.

所以，我预先要逃往塔尔史士去，因为我知道你是慈悲的，宽仁的天主；是缓于发怒，富于慈爱，怜悯而不愿降灾祸的天主。

 

And now, LORD, please take my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.” But the LORD asked, “Have you reason to be angry?”

上主，现在，求你从我身上收去我的性命，因为，我死了比活着还好！”上主说：“你的忿怒合理吗？”

 

Jonah then left the city for a place to the east of it, where he built himself a hut and waited under it in the shade, to see what would happen to the city.

约纳出了城，坐在城东，在那里为自己搭了一个棚，坐在棚荫下，要看看那城究竟要发生什么事。

 

And when the LORD God provided a gourd plant that grew up over Jonah’s head, giving shade that relieved him of any discomfort, Jonah was very happy over the plant.

上主天主安排了一株篦麻，使它长得高过约纳，为他的头遮荫，消除他的烦恼。约纳很喜爱这株篦麻。

 

But the next morning at dawn God sent a worm that attacked the plant, so that it withered.

但第二天曙光升起时，天主安排了一只虫子咬死篦麻，篦麻便枯萎了。

 

And when the sun arose, God sent a burning east wind; and the sun beat upon Jonah’s head till he became faint. Then Jonah asked for death, saying, “I would be better off dead than alive.”

当太阳升起时，天主又安排了炎热的东风，太阳射在约纳头上，使他无法忍受，便要求死去，说：“我死了比活着还好！”

 

But God said to Jonah, “Have you reason to be angry over the plant?” “I have reason to be angry,” Jonah answered, “angry enough to die.”

天主向约纳说：“你为这株篦麻发怒合理吗？”他回答说：“我气得要死，是合理的！”

 

Then the LORD said, “You are concerned over the plant which cost you no labor and which you did not raise; it came up in one night and in one night it perished.

上主说：“你为这株篦麻，并没有劳过力，也没有使它生长，还怜惜它：它不过是一夜生出，一夜死去的植物；

 

And should I not be concerned over Nineveh, the great city, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot distinguish their right hand from their left, not to mention the many cattle?”

对尼尼微这座大城，其中有十二万多不能分辨自己左右手的人，且有许多牲畜，我就不该怜惜他们么？”

领：上主，你是我的天主，求你怜悯我，因为我时常向你哀告。求你使你仆人的心灵欢欣；上主，我向你举起我的心灵。

 

R. Lord, you are merciful and gracious.

【答】：上主，你是良善慈悲的天主。

 

For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in kindness to all who call upon you. Hearken, O LORD, to my prayer and attend to the sound of my pleading.

领：我主，因为你又良善又慈悲，凡呼号你的，你必待他宽仁；上主，求你俯听我的祈祷，求你细听我恳求的哀号。

 

R. Lord, you are merciful and gracious.

【答】：上主，你是良善慈悲的天主。

 

All the nations you have made shall come and worship you, O Lord, and glorify your name. For you are great, and you do wondrous deeds; you alone are God.

领：上主，你所造的万民一齐来到，他们崇拜你，并宣扬你的名号；因为你是伟大的，施行奇迹，只有你是独一无二的天主。

 

R. Lord, you are merciful and gracious.

【答】：上主，你是良善慈悲的天主。

 

Gospel Lk 11:1-4

福音（主，请你教我们祈祷。）

恭读圣路加福音 11:1-4

 

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."

有一次，耶稣在一个地方祈祷，祈祷完毕，他的一个门徒对他说：“主，请教我们祈祷，如同若翰教了他的门徒一样。”

 

He said to them, "When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come.

耶稣对他们说：“你们祈祷时要说：父啊！愿你的名被尊为圣！愿你的国来临！

 

Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test."

我们的日用粮，求你天天赐给我们！宽免我们的罪过，因为我们自己也宽免所有亏负我们的人；不要让我们陷入诱惑。”
