First Reading:  GN 32:23-33

读经一（你的名字应叫以色列，因为你与神搏斗，占了优势。）

恭读创世纪　32: 23-33

 

In the course of the night, Jacob arose, took his two wives, with the two maidservants and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.

当夜，雅各伯起来，带了他两个妻子，两个婢女和十一个孩子，由浅处过了雅波克河。

 

After he had taken them across the stream and had brought over all his possessions, Jacob was left there alone. Then some man wrestled with him until the break of dawn.

等他们过了河，也叫自己所有的过了河，雅各伯独自一人留在后面。有一人前来与他搏斗一直到破晓。

 

When the man saw that he could not prevail over him, he struck Jacob's hip at its socket, so that the hip socket was wrenched as they wrestled.

那人见不能制胜，就在他的大腿窝上打了一下；雅各伯正在与他搏斗之际，大腿窝脱了节。

 

The man then said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go until you bless me." The man asked, "What is your name?"

那人说：“让我走吧！天已破晓。”雅各伯说：“你如果不祝福我，我不让你走。”那人问他说：“你叫什么名字？”

 

He answered, "Jacob." Then the man said, "You shall no longer be spoken of as Jacob, but as Israel, because you have contended with divine and human beings and have prevailed."

他答说：“雅各伯。”那人说：“你的名字以后不再叫雅各伯，应叫以色列，因为你与神与人搏斗，占了优势。”

 

Jacob then asked him, "Do tell me your name, please." He answered, "Why should you want to know my name?" With that, he bade him farewell.

雅各伯问说：“请你告诉我你的名字。”那人答说：“为什么你要问我的名字？”遂在那里祝福了他。

 

Jacob named the place Peniel, "Because I have seen God face to face," he said, "yet my life has been spared."

雅各伯给那地方起名叫“培尼耳”，意谓“我面对面见了神，我的生命仍得保全。”

 

At sunrise, as he left Penuel, Jacob limped along because of his hip.

雅各伯经过培尼耳时，太阳已升起照在身上，由于大腿脱了节，他一走一瘸。

 

That is why, to this day, the children of Israel do not eat the sciatic muscle that is on the hip socket, inasmuch as Jacob's hip socket was struck at the sciatic muscle.

为此，以色列子民至今不吃大腿窝上的筋，因那人打了雅各伯的大腿窝，正打在筋上。

领：上主，请静听我的申诉，俯听我的呼号，请倾听我绝无虚伪的祈祷。

 

R.  In justice, I shall behold your face, O Lord.

【答】：愿我因自己的正义能享见你的圣颜。

 

From you let my judgment come; your eyes behold what is right. Though you test my heart, searching it in the night, though you try me with fire, you shall find no malice in me.

领：愿我的案件在你面前判决，愿你的眼睛细察何为清白！任你考验我的心灵，夜间来视察我，以火锻炼我，你总找不到我的邪恶，因我的口总未像人一样犯了罪过。

 

R.  In justice, I shall behold your face, O Lord.

【答】：愿我因自己的正义能享见你的圣颜。

 

I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my word. Show your wondrous mercies, O savior of those who flee from their foes.

领：天主，我向你呼号，请你回答我，求你侧耳听我，俯听我的祈祷。请你彰现你奇妙的慈爱，将投奔到你身右边的人，从敌人的危害中救出来。

 

R.  In justice, I shall behold your face, O Lord.

【答】：愿我因自己的正义能享见你的圣颜。

 

Hide me in the shadow of your wings. I in justice shall behold your face; on waking, I shall be content in your presence.

领：在你双翼的庇护下叫我藏身，愿我因我的正义能享见你的圣颜，愿我醒来能尽情欣赏你的慈面。

 

R.  In justice, I shall behold your face, O Lord.

【答】：愿我因自己的正义能享见你的圣颜。

 

Gospel MT 9:32-38

福音（庄稼虽多，工人却少。）

恭读圣玛窦福音　9:32-38

 

A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, and when the demon was driven out the mute man spoke.

那时候，有人给耶稣送来一个附魔的哑巴。魔鬼一被赶出去，哑巴就说出话来。

 

The crowds were amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel." But the Pharisees said, "He drives out demons by the prince of demons."

群众惊奇说：“在以色列从未出现过这样的事情。”但法利塞人却说：“他是仗赖魔王驱魔。”

 

Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness.

耶稣周游各城各村，在他们的会堂内施教，宣讲天国的福音，治好一切疾病，一切灾殃。

 

At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.

他一见到群众，就对他们动了慈心，因为他们困苦流离，像没有牧人的羊，

 

Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest."

于是对自己的门徒说：“庄稼固多，工人却少，所以你们应当求庄稼的主人派遣工人，来收他的庄稼。”
